How it works
What is Sugalink and how does it work?
A sugar dating platform where no one is fake: identity verified with an ID document and liveness check for everyone. Whoever receives sets their rate and favourite venues (cafés and restaurants from our curated list, or a video call in the app). Whoever invites sends a concrete invitation — venue, day and time, with the rate in sight — no chatting required first. If the invitation is accepted, the inviting side unlocks the chat to coordinate, and the date money is paid directly between you.
Who pays the First Date and who sets the rate?
Whoever invites, pays. Whoever receives the invitation sets their rate and chooses the venue. Roles are chosen when you create your account and do not depend on your gender or the gender of the people you want to meet.
What exactly does the rate cover?
The invited person's time and presence during the First Date, at a public venue or by video call. Nothing else: the rate buys no further obligation and no other kind of service. Offering or soliciting sexual services is prohibited on Sugalink and ends in expulsion.
Is the First Date always in a public place?
Yes, always: a café or restaurant from our curated list, or a video call inside the app if you'd rather start online. Safety check-in included. The dates after that are up to the two of you.
The money
If 100% of the rate goes to the invited side, how does Sugalink make money?
From chat unlocks: the inviting side pays a flat software fee when their invitation is accepted. Never from a commission on your dates: 0% today, 0% always.
What does inviting cost, and what if they don't reply?
Inviting is free. Only when your invitation is accepted do you pay the chat unlock (£15) by card; that chat never expires and works before, during and after the date. Each new person is a new unlock. If there's no reply within 72 hours, the invitation expires at no cost to anyone; if you're accepted and don't unlock within 24 hours, the acceptance expires and it's recorded on your profile. Unlocks are non-refundable once the chat has been used; refunds that do apply (for example, a cancellation) come back as credit to your Sugalink balance, not to your card.
When and how do I get paid?
Whoever invites you pays you directly at the start of the First Date (in person, in cash or by transfer between you; for video calls, by direct transfer before it starts). Sugalink never touches that money and takes no part in that payment: the app only displays the agreed amount.
What if the other person doesn't show up?
You can report a no-show from the app within the hours following the agreed time. If you had paid an unlock and the no-show is confirmed, the value comes back as credit to your balance (never to your card). Whoever fails to show gets a strike, and repeated strikes pause or suspend the profile.
Safety & privacy
How do you verify identity and age?
Official ID document plus a liveness check for every account, no exceptions, 18+ only. Whoever invites adds income and net worth verification, with a visible badge on their profile. Your documents are never shown to other users.
What safety tools do I have?
First Dates only at curated public venues or by video call, a safety check-in during the meeting, report and block buttons, and an active moderation team. We also publish safety guides for before, during and after every date.
Who can see my profile and photos?
Only verified members inside the platform; your profile does not appear on Google or search engines.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes, whenever you want, from your settings. Your data is deleted in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable law; in the UK, under UK-GDPR.
The legal part
Is this legal? How is it different from an escort service?
Sugalink is a dating platform between verified adults — not an agency and not an escort service: we employ no one, we offer no one, we take no part in the date money, and nobody is obliged to accept an invitation. The First Date rate compensates exclusively for time and presence at a public meeting that the invited person chooses. There is no exchange of money for sex: offering or soliciting it violates our terms and results in immediate expulsion.
What is the minimum age?
18, verified with an ID document, in every country where we operate. Accounts that try to evade verification are removed without notice.
